hands_sml6Kidspace opened in 1982 as a for-profit childcare center. In 1987, Kidspace was converted to a not-for-profit organization with a parent-based board of directors. This system remains today.

Kidspace is licensed through the state of Washington and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Kidspace has demonstrated substantial compliance with nationally recognized criteria for high-quality early childhood programs.

Kidspace welcomes all children regardless of their national origin, race, sex, religion, lifestyle, or special needs.

Each of our classrooms has an experienced lead teacher with a college degree and credits in early childhood education. Our lead teachers have been with us for an average of 10 years; some have been with us for more than 15 years. Staff members receive monthly in-service trainings, participate in workshops, and keep up with the latest child-development ideas. Staff and families keep in touch through daily informal communication, personal notes, weekly room notes, and parent-teacher conferences. All staff are trained in pediatric CPR and first aid.

Kidspace encourages parent participation and conducts regular parent-education nights.

Kidspace is open from 7 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, and is closed on all federal holidays, two staff in-service training days, and Christmas week.
